How to make batch payments using a CSV file

Save time by uploading multiple transfers at once instead of entering them one by one.

Written by Laurens

Batch payments let you process multiple transfers in a single upload. Instead of creating each transfer manually, you prepare a CSV file with all the payment details and upload it directly. This is especially useful for recurring payrolls, supplier payments, or any situation where you need to pay multiple beneficiaries at once.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

  • Sufficient balance in your account to cover all transfers plus any applicable fees

  • The IBAN and full name of each beneficiary

  • Access to a spreadsheet application (e.g. Excel, Google Sheets) or a text editor to prepare the file

Step 1 β€” Download the template

To avoid formatting errors, always use the official CSV template. You can download it from the Bulk payments section of the dashboard. The template includes the correct column headers and an example row to guide you.

πŸ’‘ Do not add, remove, or rename any column headers. The file will be rejected if the structure does not match exactly.

Step 2 β€” Fill in your payment details

Each row in the file represents one transfer. The template requires the following five columns:

Column

Description

beneficiary_name

Full name of the person or business receiving the payment

iban

The beneficiary's IBAN (e.g. DE89370400440532013000)

amount

Amount to send, using a decimal point (e.g. 100.00 or 245.50)

label

A short description of the payment (e.g. Office Supplies, Consulting Services)

reference

Your internal reference number (e.g. Invoice 123, INV-2024-001)

Step 3 β€” Save the file as CSV

When saving from a spreadsheet application, choose CSV (comma-separated values) as the file format. Avoid saving as .xlsx or .ods β€” only .csv files are accepted.

πŸ’‘ If you open the file in Excel, make sure it hasn't converted IBAN numbers into scientific notation (e.g. 8.93E+19). Check each IBAN field before uploading.

Step 4 β€” Upload and review

  1. Go to Payments β†’ Bulk payments and click Upload CSV.

  2. Select your prepared .csv file. The platform will validate each row and flag any errors (e.g. invalid IBAN format or missing fields).

  3. Review the list of transfers shown on screen. Check the beneficiary names, IBANs, and amounts before proceeding.

  4. Confirm the payments. You will be asked to authorise the payment via your usual verification method.
